Many that I missed growing up
Its great to see the original series and comedians before they were famous. Good mostly clean humor back then. A lot less political and hateful.

Now I really I miss the original cast!
This is the first time I'd seen these episodes in their entirety. For anyone who grew up in Los Angeles they'll remember the condensed hour long versions that aired on KTLA channel 5 in the late 70s to early 80s. It's true some of the material is dated but who cares, this is a piece of history. I now see that channel 5 focused on season 1 since I'd never seen the Dyan Cannon or Kris Kristofferson episodes before. It's also very interesting to see how some of the sketches and films weren't even meant to funny as opposed to being ecclectic or artsy. Belushi was truly a genius and I would never discredit that fact but after revisting these episodes it seems Dan Aykroyd was the most versatile of the Not Ready For Primetime players. Just my opinion..He could do a multitude of characters, voices, etc. Of course, Gilda had a charm that was so endearing and it's really sad to watch her now. Not to sound like a jerk but I rarely laughed at anything Garrett Morris did and his career after SNL is the proof in the pudding but he was a founding member so I'll give him props there. The main reason I purchased season two was for the Bad Ballet, Bad Playhouse sketches which cracked me up as a kid. As stated in other reviews on Amazon, Season 2 may very well be the weakest of the 1st four years of SNL. Bill Murray had yet to find his place among the cast. There's a lot of mediocre crap to filter through but it's worth it to get to the good stuff such as the hilarious John Belushi/Joe Cocker duet or Dan Aykroyd handling dual roles as an AM/FM DJ. Overall, these guys truly were the Beatles of comedy! Yes, over the years we've seen some great talent like Phil Hartman, Chris Farley and Will Farrell but nothing compares to the original.....

Could you ask for more?
We may never see this type of entertainment again.

What I have expected
I already have the first season and was really looking forward for the second season. I'm half-way through now and must say so far it is not as funny as the first season. Was it a coincident that Chevy Chase finally managed to get hurt during one of his famous openings and was missing and soon after left the show? Whatever's the reason, in this first half many sketches are just boring, way to obvious or missing a punch line. But still, it's SNL and it has a few highlights and since the arrival of Bill Murray I think it's picking up speed. Will see what the other half of this season will bring. And I'm looking forward for the third season.

A Reason To Stay Home....
This television series is something I have been waiting for. I will end up with the entire series before its all said and done. This was a favorite show in my youth, a time when I was allowed to stay up late on Saturday night and watch good tv. The first season was a Masterpiece and the second season is incredible. The writers on this show in the early days's really knew how to make the audience laugh. Now 30 something years later the laughter unfortuantely has turned to cries for help.Murry, Belushi, Radner, Curtin, Akyrod and others made this show a historical time in my life. I grew up with the ConeHeads, John Belushi as a Killer Bee or a Samurai. This truly was a show that gave reason to stay home on a Saturday Night. The music was also second to none. This is a must for anyone who enjoys classic comedy.

Love it a Lot!
I never got a chance to see the original cast in reruns (I was 23 when SNL was first aired and I loved it); so when I saw them on sale at Amazon, I bought all five (1975-1980) since they are uncut and free of commercials; I still find it very funny; the new regulars are often great (Ferrell, Fay, Poeler, and so on) but I always had a sweet spot for the group who first graced us with their irreverent humor, their ridiculously funny sketches and musical guests; SNL lives on, I'm glad NBC/Lionsgate released these treasures; highly recommended!!!

Chevy Chase がいいです
Chevy Chase 最後のシーズンです。76 President Debate スキットがお気に入りです。Chevy が去ったあとのホストを務めた Paul Simon の回も面白いです。
