Absolutely does what it says it does
I got this product for some new nunbuck boots I bought, and it works like a charm. Just so happened that the day after I applied it to them, it was a rainy day. Worked just like waxing your car-- water beaded up and ran right off my boots.Like any product of this type, it's got a pretty heavy smell when you first spray it on, but once it's dried up, you won't smell a thing.Sprays well- no clogging or spitting, even when you hold it at a different angle- nice thin canister, so it's easy to hold and use, and since I've only used it once thus far, I've no idea how long the can will last... but for the price point, I have no complaints.

It works
We have used this multiple times to waterproof our shoes, bags and jackets. It doesn't have a strong odor and works well.

This stuff is great!!
This stuff works best when used within say 10 days of using the footware - after that, the effect seems to wear off. So why a 5-star review? Soooo easy to use - just strip off your boot laces and load this stuff on the unlaced boot. (Pack it in the area around the boot-tongue interface.) I did not follow instructions - I held the spray head close to the boot and loaded on the spray. I did not notice any change in coloration of my boot - maybe a bit darker for a day or two, but that's it. (After all- they're hiking boots! So who cares if they're a bit darker after applying the spray.)One can of spray seems to be good for about 6 applications on over-the-ankle hiking boots (so maybe 4 applications for 10 inch-high boots). So one can is probably good for a season for one pair of boots. But load this stuff on where it counts - around the area where sole and boot meet, around the toe box, and around the area where the laces are over the tongue of the boot. One word of caution: APPLY THIS STUFF OUTDOOORS! And try to stay upwind of the spray. (The propellant did not agree with my lungs.)As for effectiveness, snow and water just rolled off of my boots after using this stuff. Like I said, it lasts about 10 days, but oh-what those ten days are! Better'n Gore-Tex! I used it on Ultra-suede-type leather, and that's probably where it does best. And speaking of Gore-Tex, I used this on boots with Gore-Tex liners and it did not in any way compromise the Gore-Tex - so no worries about mucking-up your Gore-Tex boots by using this product. There are lots of water repellants for honest-to-gosh cow-hide leather boots, but very few that work with Ultra-suede-type boots having Gore-Tex liners - this product is probably the best for that type of use, and as said before - sooo easy to use!

Not really waterproofing
I sprayed this on all of my shoes and it did not prevent water or water stains even in light rain. You have to do it outside or a very, very well ventilated area because the smell will give you a headache.

Works well.
The smell is a little strong, but it fades quickly and dries quickly. And so far has done a good job protecting my new white tennis shoes.
