Great work by the author
Robert Bly did a great job of supplying, just like the title suggests, thought provoking words. Too, the section title are thought provoking as well - caused me to think of phrases specific to my own situation. I did not waste money purchasing this book.

Outdated slogans
I read maybe 20 or more books on the subject, and I'm sorry to say this one didn't add anything new to my knowledge. The "words" and sales slogans in this book feel outdated and way too basic. "Buy or Die" kind of marketing. I would never buy anything if I read any of these slogans. 2 stars for effort though.

A treasure trove of powerful marketing words that work fast to improve results.
I'm a big fan of business books that are jam packed with dozens and dozens of practical ideas that I can use to quickly improve my business results. And that's why I always enjoy reading anything that Bob Bly has written. In his Big Book of Words that Sell Bob gives me several hundred great words and phrases that I can use to create more effective marketing messages.Best of all, Bob breaks down great marketing into simple steps and then shows how to pick great words for that step. For example : One of the goals in marketing is to reduce the customers risk when they buy any product or service. The lower the perceived risk the more likely a customer is to purchase. On pages 110 and 111 of The Big Book of Words that sell Bob gives seven specific example of how to use great words to reduce the risk a customer might have in purchasing something. If you create any sort of marketing messages than this book is a gold mine of useful words and phrases. It has step by step instructions on how to make any marketing messages more effective. And it's also a great example of my ten X value rule when buying any business book.If its a good book I'll get a minimum of 10 times the price I paid for the book back in value within the first month. And with Bob's book I've got a lot more than ten times value back from my purchase.Graham McGregor
